Ask questions - I am technically inclined and willing to test if told perform how. I don't expect that anybody 'needs' it for their lab, but perhaps curio cabinet in lab?, this is a beautiful piece of hardware. Yes - the price is arbitrary it matches serial number. I couldn't find anything about it and did not attempt to test.

A 10:1 multiplier would reduce the signal that device reads by a factor of 10. Anyway - it is a sweet looking item and apparently scarce. The oscilloscope would read this as 20 volts , and you know to multiply the reading by 10 get actual voltage . This is useful when measuring signals that are beyond the range of device.
